Cameron Balloons of Bristol, England, had made a balloon that could circumnavigate the world, but they couldn't make one that could get off the ground against the heat of an October afternoon in Arizona.

After a while, Kevin the AMC flack came up and told us apologetically that there would be no rides today. "The thermal situation isn't the greatest," he said.
