For folks who also found only the fax number in directory service, the right phone number is 480-423-9043. Stop in for neighborhood friendly fare like raspberry turkey sandwiches, champagne oysters, and black-pepper flat iron steak.

What is baccala?

A.
It's dried Italian-style salted cod. It can sound a little weird, but from the right chef, it's addictive. You can find the appetizer (paired with polenta) at both lunch and dinner at Veneto Trattoria, on the northeast corner of Lincoln and McDonald in Scottsdale.

I really enjoy sand dabs. What's the scoop getting them around here?

A.
Scoot over to Voltaire, on McDonald east of Hayden in Scottsdale. The sweet, delicately moist fish is a specialty there, sautéed in lemon butter with white grapes.
