Located in downtown Tempe, right across the street from Arizona State University, Wet Paint is the brainchild of artist Jess Jordan. It didn't take Jordan long to figure out that there was a void to be filled when two other local art supply stores, Binder's and The Shop of Art, went out of business. She envisioned a store that would not make the same mistakes, that would provide wall space to ASU students and feature upcoming artists, no matter what their style.

But Jordan wasn't just interested in the paint and canvas crew -- she also wanted to feature local musicians and artists of a different ilk. And the best time to catch them is at the gallery's monthly alternative to First Fridays downtown.

Wet Paint Art Supply's Final Friday B-Side Shows are now the place to be seen at the end of the month. Equal parts music, food (Jordan's mom makes all the food herself), and art, this event is all about enjoying yourself. And you won't be alone; Final Friday regularly draws around 300 people. Jordan says, "most of the stuff you see or hear here is different than what you would anywhere else -- anything goes here."

This Friday, DJ Organic of Homegrown Productions and Nanotek (featuring Haas from The Squids) spin tunes to provide the perfect backdrop for the spray paint artists featured this month.

So get back in touch with your bad self and see what Tempe's underground art is really all about. If you can't make the event, you can watch it live via webcam on the gallery's website (listed below).
