Apply for an open mind of your own when International Education Week comes to ASU West. Cross-cultural discussions, as well as dynamic musical and dance performances, are among the main attractions of an event created to recognize the role that international education and exchange play in strengthening ourselves at home and in our relations with other countries.
"The international community continues to grow at the university level," says Elena Mitchell, senior coordinator for ASU West's International Education Services Program. "Events such as these provide for an exchange of ideas, cultural awareness, global perspective and a true sharing of experiences."
The four-day series of events is highlighted by the International Festival at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 19, featuring live music and dance from Thailand, Wales, Africa and more, as well as clothing and arts and crafts from all over the world. Other events include "A Refugee's Story," the story of a Bosnian Olympian and former ASU student, as well as discussions on "Research and Education Across Borders" and "International/National Education and Gender Gaps."
