Youth Pick

Revamped kids' museum views the pooch

Sat 11/22
Two years of renovation and expansion have put the "youth" back in the Arizona Museum for Youth; the new and improved venue celebrates its reopening -- at 35 North Robson in Mesa -- this Saturday, November 22. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the museum breaks in its 12,000-square-foot addition with activities centering on the new "BowWOW!: Dogs in Art" exhibition, and it's a bark day indeed. Kids can meet a police dog from the City of Mesa K-9 Unit, learn about the Arizona Search Track and Rescue Volunteers, and win raffle prizes from Happy Dog Toys. And for a souvenir you won't find in most museum gift shops, pups will be available for adoption from the Arizona Humane Society and Fast Dogs Fast Friends Greyhound Rescue.Museum admission is $3.50. For more information, call 480-644-2467 or see www.arizona museumforyouth.com.- Jill Koch
