Keeping up appearances is a must in the sports world, a universe where a franchise is nothing without a shiny new building to call home. Naming rights, signage and concessions represent the pot of gold waiting for owners at the end of the sports rainbow, but in the end, the fans win as well. Consider the case of Glendale, a city about to take its first step toward player status in the local sports community with the impending arrival of the Phoenix Coyotes at the new Glendale Arena.Get the lowdown on the newest digs in town before the first pair of teeth hit the ice; the Coyotes present a Sneak Peek at Glendale Arena on Sunday, November 30, from noon until 4 p.m. A walk-through offering views of the main concourse, lower-level seating bowl, and state-of-the-art 3,500-pound scoreboard is just part of the fun. The afternoon also includes interactive games, live music, face painters and clowns, new Coyotes team merchandise, and a rare opportunity to get up close and personal with the Stanley Cup itself.

Devils get set for a 'Cats fight

This Friday's ASU Sun Devils-versus-Arizona Wildcats football game may be the last for Wildcats interim head coach Mike Hankwitz. Hankwitz would like to be named permanent head coach, but rumor has it that the Wildcats are negotiating with Mike Stoops, co-defensive coordinator for Oklahoma (ranked first currently, at 12-0). Neither the Sun Devils nor the Wildcats have been especially impressive this year, but local fans oughta feel confident for this final game, as ASU's record is 4-7 and Arizona's is 2-9. Dirk Koetter's Devils just may end their season with a win, so you can wear your maroon and gold with pride.
