Sure, he stammers when he speaks. But don't mistake his hesitation for shyness. Notorious party-crasher and guerrilla interviewer John Melendez -- better known as Stuttering John from The Howard Stern Show -- spouts ballsy one-liners that are as insightful as they are rude. Stuttering John "and friends," including standup firecracker Greg Fitzsimmons, perform at the Tempe Improv, 930 East University, at 8 and 10 p.m. Friday, February 20, and Saturday, February 21. Tickets are $22 for Friday and $25 for Saturday; there's also a $2-per-ticket handling fee. Call 480-921-9877 to make reservations.

Everyone has weaknesses, but there's no seduction quite like finding a good bargain, whether it's a charming old coffee table, an almost-new tennis racket, or last year's best-selling novel. Dive into the deals -- and leave the thrift-store hopping for another weekend -- at Arizona's biggest garage sale, the Junior League of Phoenix's 67th Annual Rummage Sale. This sprawling fund raiser, which benefits the Junior League's community programs, takes over the Arizona State Fairgrounds' Exhibition Building on Saturday, February 21. Admission is $3 (free for kids 12 and younger) for the morning sale, which runs from 8 a.m. to noon. For the afternoon sale, which runs from 1 to 4 p.m., admission is free and everything is half-price. The fairgrounds are located at 19th Avenue and McDowell. Call 602-234-3388 for more information.

With more than $275,000 in prize money at stake, there can be no horsing around at the distinguished 49th Annual Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show, presented by the Arabian Horse Association of Arizona, which concludes on Sunday, February 22. Instead, equestrian elegance is the name of the game, and competition is incredibly stiff -- horse owners from every single state, as well as from more than a dozen foreign countries, enter their finest horses. The final rounds begin at 7:30 a.m., and the Parade of Champions starts at 1:30 p.m. While spectators might find it hard to walk away from the mane attraction, hundreds of vendors and exhibitors offer plenty of distractions. Everything takes place at WestWorld, 16601 North Pima Road in Scottsdale. Tickets, $10 for general admission, $7 for seniors, and $15 for reserved seating, are available from Ticketmaster, 480-784-4444. Children 12 and younger are admitted free. Sometimes we get nostalgic for the field trips of our youth -- the bus rides were almost as fun as the destinations. But thank God for being a grown-up, because real food replaces brown-bag lunches, juice boxes give way to beer, and educational activities get passed over for a hockey game at Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery's Coyotes versus The Mighty Ducks Tailgate Party and Bus Trip on Monday, February 23. Head to Rock Bottom, located at 8668 East Shea in Scottsdale, for pregame drinks and dining starting at 4:30 p.m. Then hop on the bus and head out at 5:30 p.m. to see Phoenix face off with Anaheim at the new Glendale Arena. Following the game, the night concludes with a bus ride back to Rock Bottom. Admission is $45 per person, and includes a game ticket. Participants must be members of the restaurant's free Mug Club program. For reservations, call 480-998-7777.

Think you've exhausted all of your cardio options? Now there's a new aerobic workout you won't be able to get at the gym -- at least not yet, that is. Trade in the hand weights for a pole on Tuesday, February 24, when actress Sheila Kelley leads a mini-exercise class and signs copies of her new book, The S Factor: Strip Workouts for Every Woman. A combination of yoga, dance and erotic moves that she learned while working on the movie Dancing at the Blue Iguana, the strip workout helped Kelley shape up after pregnancy. Wear comfortable clothing to attend Kelley's presentation at noon at Changing Hands Bookstore, 6428 South McClintock in Tempe. Call 480-730-0205 for details.

So far this season, the Phoenix Suns have only played against the New York Knicks on one occasion, and the match-up turned out to be another disappointing loss for the hometown team. Still, it was a mighty close game -- the Knicks won with just a five-point lead -- so we expect more high drama on Wednesday, February 25, when the Suns just might get their revenge. Tip-off time is 7 p.m. at America West Arena, 201 East Jefferson. Ticket prices start at $10. To purchase tickets, visit www.ticketmaster.com or call 480-784-4444.
