A new monthly Brit Pop/indie/New Wave night, Trash!, debuts this Saturday with a maudlin splash, previewing the new full-length LP by mope master Morrissey, titled You Are the Quarry. Trash!, unlike most dance nights around the 'Nix, will feature live bands at each installment, along with DJ Manchester's Cockney sound stylings. For the first installment, cheeky New Wave-inflected popsters Tsar, from Los Angeles, joins local group The Reflection -- but if you want to see the bands, show up early, because the later hours are dedicated to wax tracks and dancing. Trash! goes off at the Clubhouse in Tempe, 1320 East Broadway Road, on Saturday, May 8, with the Morrissey listening session kicking off at 8 p.m. and the bands starting at 9 p.m. Cover charge is $7, but with CD giveaways all night long, you just might make your money back.
