After 17 years, is No Doubt coming to the end of its New Wave/ska-pop road? You don't need a Magic 8-Ball to see that signs point to yes: Gwen Stefani is currently at work on her solo debut with the likes of OutKast and Missy Elliott, and also getting her long-desired movie career off the ground (she's been perfectly cast as Jean Harlow in Martin Scorsese's upcoming Howard Hughes biopic The Aviator, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio). Meanwhile, sourpuss guitarist Tom Dumont has looked like he's wanted out since, oh, about 1996, and the rhythm section of Adrian Young and Tony Kanal finally may have run out of goofy new hair styles to spring on us. Plus, the quartet just scored a huge hit (its cover of Talk Talk's "It's My Life") and a platinum-selling singles collection, so why not end it all on a high note? This co-headlining jaunt with Blink-182 may very well be No Doubt's last hurrah, but if you miss it, don't worry -- they'll probably reconvene in 2012 for a 25th-anniversary boxed set and tour.
