You Deserve a Break Today
A lunchtime yoga session
McDonald's loves to see us smile, God bless 'em, but the folks at Yoga at Heart have taken that kind of goodwill and super-sized it. Do lunch -- "Yoga at Lunch" -- at the studio, 109 West Portland, and "let your body rejuvenate, your heart soar, and your soul shine with a heart-centered yoga practice." Offering "the inner peace, grace and joy of hatha yoga" -- which seeks to control and perfect the body, unlike Grimace and his Fry Guys -- the 45-minute class meets at noon Mondays through Thursdays. Class costs $5; covered parking is free. See www.yoga-heart.com or call 602-354-4994 for details. -- Jill Koch
Dirt So Good
Rain can't wash out "Mud Mania"
Thousands will flock to Chaparral Park, 5401 North Hayden in Scottsdale, on Friday, July 23, giving new meaning to the term "mud pack." At the 29th annual "Mighty Mud Mania," sponsored by Scottsdale Parks and Recreation, kids can slosh and slog their way through a mud obstacle course, help build a traditional Native American mud and straw house, and play in the sprinklers and water cannons. The cooling-off period continues with Popsicles, drinks and eats (mud pie, anyone?). Afraid to get those fine upholstered seats dirty? Not to worry -- the Scottsdale Fire Department will hose kids down before they leave. Participants are asked to donate a canned food item to benefit the Vista del Camino Food Bank; registration for the free event starts at 8 a.m., rain or shine.
