School of JockFollow the bouncing ball to the Mercury summer campBenjamin Leatherman, Joe WatsonPublished on August 12, 2004Scheduling the Phoenix Mercury's annual clinic to coincide with the Summer Olympics is a slam-dunk way of cashing in on all the, uh, hoopla surrounding USA Basketball's expected march to the medal stand. True, a chunk of the WNBA's roster is already in Athens. But c'mon, is there a better way to fuel your kids' hoop dreams than by watching Diana Taurasi and company conquer the world? With the fundamentals Mercury players and coaches will drill into your kids' heads during the two-day camp at Thunderbird High School, 1750 West Thunderbird Road, you might consider reserving your seats for Beijing in 2008. The clinic's open to both girls and boys, ages 8 to 17, and runs from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, August 13, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, August 14. Entrance fee is $90 and includes a WNBA basketball and Mercury tee shirt.
