Bad Boy Bill at the Brickhouse

Chicago house legend scratches it up in P-town

A sea of lighters in the air is probably exactly what Camel cigarettes would like to see at its Roaring 2000's Speakeasy Tour, which stops in Phoenix for "Your Password Is Your Key" on Sunday, September 5. Chicago house legend Bad Boy Bill will be dropping wax alongside acts like Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers, Los Straitjackets, and fellow spin masters Radar, Miss Lisa, and Emile. We're pretty sure that smoking won't be enforced, but it's a good idea to bring a pack of coffin nails just in case.

Bad Boy Bill got his start way back when he was 14 years old, taking his cues from hip-hop and bringing some of its elements to house music, even winning the Midwest DMC competition in 1988. Even today, Bill is likely to drop a crateful of records on the wheels rather than the 10 or so an ordinary house DJ would rock. It'll cost you $15 to see the whole get-down at the Old Brickhouse Grill, and tickets can be purchased through eventvibe.com. The party starts at 9:30 p.m.
