These dogs are light on their feet and easy on the eyes. The Tap Dogs are pounding their way back to Phoenix and bringing their dance recital on steroids with them. The Australian boys make tapping seem like the most masculine activity in the world. There is nothing like watching a bunch of sweaty Aussies in Blundstone boots stomping on scaffolding, playing with power tools and banging on trash cans. The show is a far cry from Riverdance -- but the cut-off jeans and chummy moves are slightly homoerotic. The troupe's new show, however, Tap Dogs Rebooted, which is playing at the Dodge Theatre, 400 West Washington, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 16, and Wednesday, November 17, features an attraction that should make the cast seem a lot less light in the loafers . . . girls. As horrible as it may sound, we like watching train wrecks (metaphorically, of course). It's that we-fear-to-look-yet-cannot-turn-away mentality that draws us in, especially when watching cads doing very bad things. Nearly Naked Theatre brings the pain with Hurlyburly, David Rabe's play about a group of Hollywood hangers-on, at Phoenix Little Theatre, 100 East McDowell, starting Friday, November 12. A group of fast-talking, blow-snorting blowhards straight from the underbelly of Hollywood Babylon spew their venom, and just like these sharks, artistic director Damon Dering's hip to drop a few names like Mamet and Pinter in the same darkly comic vein as Glengarry Glen Ross. "These characters are so horrible to each other, women, or other people, that the only way an audience can deal with it is to laugh." The show runs on various days and times through December 4.
