Faint Misbehavin'

Omaha's dance-punk gods try fame on their own terms

"If you're a band that plays really big, nice, air-conditioned rooms where the power is totally consistent, then they're fine to take on tour, especially if you have a tech or something that can help you out with it. But for us, you know, like I said, we end up playing these rooms like VFWs, and it's going to be really hot and humid in there, so I would not trust my old Juno or that old Korg or anything in there."

But even if the shows are at a VFW, a wild mix of fans still comes out to see the Faint. It's the coolest thing about the band, Thiele says. "There's goth kids and hardcore kids and regular adults that look like they just got off work. I love that about our shows -- just all these different people coming out.

"And they always seem to get along and have a good time -- it's like this melting pot of weirdoes."
