Green Party

PBR, er, FBR Open tees off

1/31-2/6
In years past, the FBR (formerly Phoenix) Open was best known for bringing a much-needed dose of fun to the often staid and stuffy world of professional golf. And while the frat-party mentality that once ruled the 16th hole may have mellowed (a bit), there is little doubt that the Valley's premier PGA event isn't afraid to give conventional golf etiquette the occasional tweak in the name of entertainment. Join the fun with more than 500,000 of your closest friends as golf's greatest names (minus a guy named Tiger) tee up beginning Monday, January 31, through February 6, at the TPC of Scottsdale, 17020 North Hayden. 2004 champion Jonathan Kaye returns to defend his title against a stellar field featuring Vijay Singh, Phil Mickelson, Chris DeMarco, Tom Lehman, and Mark Calcavecchia, to name a few. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster at 480-784-4444 or www.ticketmaster.com. For information on other admission packages, call 602-870-4431 or visit www.phoenixopen.com. -- Craig Wallach
