We're still happily enjoying the paradise that is our balmy wintertime in the 'Nix, but clubgoers should be prepared for a chilly blast when Florida's DJ Icey, lauded as "the King of the Funky Breaks," hits town Friday, February 25, with an appearance at Myst, 7340 East Shoeman Lane in Scottsdale. Icey's career has spanned more than a decade as a vinyl dropper and producer, and he's become one of the legends of the industry, attracting a broad audience that ranges from b-boys to club kids to inner-city house-heads. This pioneer of the breakbeat scene has produced and released more than 80 12-inch wax singles throughout his history, and he shows no signs of letting up. While usually playing more than 100 gigs a year, he still makes time for recording; his latest album is last year's For the Love of the Beat.
