Christie's becomes the best little horse house in Phoenix

SAT 3/26
How do you make a guy think about horses while watching nude cabaret? "Well, that's not really the point," says Janie Wiseman, a manager at Christie's Cabaret, 44 North 32nd Street, which is hosting "Girls! Girls! Girls!", a benefit for Wildhorse Ranch Rescue, on Saturday, March 26, starting at 6 p.m. And that's a much better answer than the one we'd feared. "A couple of the girls -- Roxy and Bianca -- will perform their own special routines," Wiseman says, "but it's really just a fun event that should also raise some money." For a $10 cover, er, horse lovers can see Mark Greenawalt's body-painting exploits live and enter a raffle for two lifetime memberships to Christie's nationwide. For $250 or even $500, you'll get something "a little more private" -- for the sake of the mares, of course. Call 480-926-8007 or see www.mudpony.com. -- Joe Watson

Healing Action
Nia new kind of movement? It's here

SAT 3/26
You don't have to be a yogi to excel at Nia, the latest feel-good workout for exercise-phobes and mind-body-spirit types (read: dirty hippies). The expressive dance stands for "Neuromuscular Integrative Action" and uses organic body movements to strengthen, realign and heal the body. You can play around with the freestylin' fitness fad from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, March 26, when Bodyworks Studio, 1801 South Jen Tilly Lane, Suite B-8, in Tempe, holds a "Nia Jam." Test out the moves for yourself and meet local Nia instructors. The Jam costs $12. Call 480-894-2090, or see www.bodyworks-studio.com. -- Ashlea Deahl

Dawgs of War
Word to the Blunt Club

THU 3/24
The Force is strong with Dulok Shaman. Named after an obscure character from the Star Wars universe, the Native American hip-hop artist -- who's building a reputation both in the Valley and back in Cali with his mix of tribal beats and urban jams -- will invade the Blunt Club at 9 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at the Rio Salado Brewing Co. -- Salt River Saloon, 605 South Mill in Tempe, as part of the "War of the Words Tour." Shaman works the mic alongside fellow members of L.A.'s underground scene, including MCs Avatar and Rheteric, L.O.R.D., and DJ Tidwell (who'll spin rare grooves and breaks). The party includes live art created by DJ Phat E, and dancing demonstrations. Admission is $5. Call 480-967-2002. -- Benjamin Leatherman
