Trance trance revolution
Trance-music don Christopher Lawrence is perhaps the best-known name in dance music to come from the United States, a country with no shortage of topnotch DJ talent. Consistently ranked alongside the U.K.'s hottest jocks in DJ Magazine's annual poll, in 2004 Lawrence checked in at number seven, placing higher than any other American jock. And at this year's Winter Music Conference in Miami, he took home the top prize for "Best American DJ" at the International Dance Music Awards. None of this comes as any surprise, really. Since stepping behind the decks 12 years ago, Lawrence has established himself as one of the hardest-working DJs in the business, headlining events from China to New York City. Last summer he released his debut artist album, All or Nothing, which garnered rave reviews and established him as a producer to watch. Lawrence is scheduled to perform at Myst in Scottsdale on Friday, May 27.
