As the temperatures start to drop, Monday nights are heating up in the world of beats and thumps. The latest entry is hip-hop weekly Boom Bap Room at Big Fish Pub in Tempe (1954 East University Drive), kicking off on Monday, October 3. Brought to you by Universatile Music, the finest purveyor of indie hip-hop in the 'Nix, the Boom Bap Room is hosted by a trio calling themselves the Vinyl Rockers, a.k.a. Foundation, Pickster One (both of Drunken Immortals), and Skip Skoolnik. It's starting out simply, with the Vinyl Rockers on the tables, but the event will amp up progressively in future weeks, with Ill Al the Anglo-Saxon's CD release (and an all-star cast of locals) on the 10th of October, and on the 17th, a visit from the ever-prolific Awol One. Admission is five bucks, and the party goes from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.
