You don't need testosterone to make hardcore music hard. Though it's always been implied that the ol' punk-rock "oi" be sung by a boy, the sixth annual GoGirlsMusicFest 2005 tour dishes up acts that chuck tradition into a pile of discarded Britney Spears CDs. The music fest offers a variety of sounds and styles, from the loud rantings of Copper Nine, Auralast, Storm Within, and Downward Dog to the mellower but equally passionate voices of Mary Lemanski and Laura Sawosko. The GoGirls invade Tempe's Last Exit Bar and Grill, 1425 West Southern Avenue, on Saturday, October 15. Showtime is 8:30 p.m. Cover for the 21-and-over show is $5. Grandpa's gone to the great beyond, but you've still got unfinished business with the old codger. Looks like your only shot at a confab is through John Edward, who visits Celebrity Theatre, 440 North 32nd Street, on Friday and Saturday, October 14 and 15. The self-proclaimed psychic medium and host of the Sci Fi Channel's Crossing Over With John Edward will hold public readings in an attempt to reach the undiscovered country for those in attendance. Wicked kids hit the 'Head

When Radiohead's doom-and-gloom vocalist Thom Yorke preaches, "Fitter, happier, more productive," maybe he should take his own damn advice. Luckily, we can enjoy the music of Radiohead -- minus the depressive side effects -- when Wicked Children performs jazz arrangements of Radiohead tunes on Thursday, October 13, at Modified Arts, 407 East Roosevelt Street. The 10-piece ensemble fuses jazz elements with modern beats to create a sound akin to the angst-ridden British group. Bandleader Adam Roberts says, "I felt a lot of jazz was lacking in the power, rawness and energy of rock. I realized the potential for all of Radiohead's music to undergo this sort of treatment."
