Grandmaster Flash

And Jazzy Jeff? Get out!

It's not often we get a living legend hitting the turntables in the 'Nix, because, really, the art isn't old enough to have that many pioneers. There are a few, though, and amongst those few, none ranks as high in the pantheon -- except perhaps Kool Herc -- as Grandmaster Flash. With the Furious Five back in the '70s, Flash invented the cutting and scratching that defines hip-hop turntablism to this day, and is widely hailed as the first person ever to use the turntable as an instrument. He's hitting Axis/Radius in Scottsdale on Thursday, November 10, with another throwback, Jazzy Jeff, who hopefully won't be playing "Parents Just Don't Understand."
