While he might not be as famous as Morrissey or Johnny Marr, bassist and guitarist Andy Rourke was still a vital part of legendary English rockers The Smiths. Handling his bass like a warbling weapon of twang, Rourke added his distinctive sound to such classic Smiths albums as The Queen Is Dead and Strangeways, Here We Come. Since the group's self-destruction in 1987, this string-slinging superfreak has worked with notable bands ranging from The Pretenders to Badly Drawn Boy, and even serves as a DJ for radio station Xfm Manchester in his native Britain, serving up indie hits both old and new every Saturday night. This weekend, however, Rourke will relocate his indie-spewing gig to The Rogue East, 423 North Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale, where he'll hook up with resident spinster William Fucking Reed at Shake! on Saturday, September 16. The needles drop at 9 p.m. with an $8 cover.
