British post-punks/pre-New Wavers Echo & The Bunnymen released Songs to Learn and Singin 1985, and 10 of the tracks that made the first comp are included here, most notably hit singles like "Rescue," "Do It Clean," "The Cutter" and "The Killing Moon." But this new collection contains 10 more songs spanning the band's career from 1985 to 2006, including their cover of The Doors' "People Are Strange," the 1987 pop gem "Lips Like Sugar" and tracks from more recent albums, like 2001's Flowers("It's Alright") and 2005's Siberia("Stormy Weather"). The companion DVD contains eight music videos, half of them directed by the incomparable Anton Corbijn, the man who's been U2 and Depeche Mode's principal visual artist and who has directing credits for Nirvana, Metallica, and Coldplay. So although this double disc provides an entree to the best of Echo & the Bunnymen for the average listener, it also harbors enough extras and obscurities to make it a must-have for ardent Echo & the Bunnymen fans.
