No Chain, No Gain

Pain at the pump? Try the bicycle kind.

Once relegated to the transportation mode of choice for the granola-munchin' set, the bicycle is now the weapon of choice for those going green and givin' the finger to Big Petroleum. Okay, well, maybe some things haven't changed, but the bike has now gone high-falutin' with the "Jarbas Lopes: Cicloviaérea" exhibit.

For his first project in the ASU Art Museum Social Studies residency program, the Brazilian artist is inviting bike enthusiasts in for a look at his creative process. He'll be using cycles along with video, drawing, and other media to explore the conveyance as a work of art, object of beauty, and mode of transportation.

An opening reception is scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, September 7.

Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: Sept. 7. Continues through Dec. 30, 2007
