Andrew Jackson Jihad has received a grip of ink in our esteemed publication. From glowing praise (“Their music could almost be the perfect soundtrack to the black humor of a Kurt Vonnegut novel”) to backhanded compliments (“[co-frontman] Sean Bonnette is the poster boy for twentysomething angst”), the acoustic folk-punk duo -- comprised of guitarist/vocalist Bonnette and bassist Ben Gallaty -- continues to impress with a heavy performance schedule and loads of releases.

So why do we continue to cover these foolios? Because they’re fucking great, that’s why.

We’re not the only ones who think they’re the shiz. Online publications such as CD Universe have given the Phoenix-based band -- who recently signed with popular indie label Asian Man Records -- mad props.

All the Santa-hatin’ scenesters can bid farewell to the Jihad before they hit the road for a cross-country tour, which will not include a stop in Minot, North Dakota, despite the online pleadings of a fan. Supporting acts on the bill include Foot Ox and “songwriter and legendary pussy Daryl Scariot,” according to AJJ’s Myspace.
