Whoa, Susana

Lassos and lamé at Karamba

While our lame ass sits at home reading crime novels and waiting for the phone to ring, somewhere in this city of immolation Susana is carefully choosing a skin-tight outfit to rival any high school bleacher slut for her Travesty Show. She of the golden cowgirl hat, trembling lamé bikini top, and 1,000-watt smile channels the likes of Gloria Trevi, Diane Reyes, and Shakira for an audience of brokeback buckaroos, straights, gays, and trans traffic with the help of DJ Miguel, perhaps the Valley’s premier slapper of cumbia, norteño, banda, and pop en Español. The Travesty Show (and its equally, uh, entertaining cousin, Vaquero Thursday Latino Cowboy Night) make coming out of the crime-novel closet well worth it.
