King for a Day

“I have a dream” comes true in Mesa

So it’s Martin Luther King Day and you’re required to work. That’s a toughie. You want to honor one of the most important figures of the 20th century, but you don’t want to imply that your boss is racist by making a big stink. We recommend playing a quiet game of hooky by faking sick and heading out to Mesa’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration. The hourlong Unity Parade starts in Old Town Mesa, then travels to Mesa Amphitheatre, for a community festival that lasts from noon to 3pm.
