There's been a lot of talk about hip-hop at the New Times office, so by midweek, we were geared up for Raising Arizona at The Bar, a.k.a. The Lucky Devil in Tempe. (Click here for more photos.) This weekly DJ night may not have the frantic buzz of Hollywood Alley's Blunt Club, but we found the laid-back atmosphere to be just right for a Wednesday. Still, as nightlife goes, the vibe didn't start to roll until around midnight, and wasn't over until 2 a.m.

We punked out long before last call, but didn't let the residual shame damage our party egos. After one glance at the massive size of their beer mugs, we gave ourselves a get-out-of-jail-free card for the evening — best to save that energy for a night when sleeping in is an option. Still, it was tough to turn away from the DJ, so we might have to hit it again soon.
