Don't know if you're down with the latest 411, but Emerg McVay and the rest of the Blunt Club crew have ditched their longtime digs at Hollywood Alley in Mesa and set up their weekly hip-hop shop at a new location, namely Club Red, 2155 East University Drive in Tempe. It's still the same joint you remember, where every Thursday, resident turntablists Pickster Uno and DJ Element drop beats on the ones and twos, artists like Dumperfoo and Lerks sling paint, Emerg does his emcee thang, and some of the illest visiting DJs and hip-hop musicians work the stage. This week's edition, on Thursday, January 17, promises to be an off-the-chain affair (which celebrates Dumper's 35th birthday), with former Blunt Club resident DJ Hyder dropping by for the night, along with guest artist Food One (a.k.a. our boy Jim Mahfood). Doors open at 9 p.m. with a $5 cover. Visit www.myspace.com/bluntclub.
