The Super Bowl. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You’ve got a 33 percent chance of seeing a decent game — if you can get in. Then, if you can scrape up the dough, you’re eating pocket lint for supper, plus you’re seated next to some carpet-bagging corporate weenie who has to ask what inning it is. But that’s okay. We live in a basketball town, so it’s fitting that one of our most beloved sports icons will kick off this wallet-challenging week with Dan Majerle’s Downtown Super Bowl Block Party. Majerle’s wacked bash features the party features performances by Digital Underground, Tone Loc, and Young MC, DJ spins, a "mini NFL Experience," the "Largest Dish Ever Washed" contest with former Dallas Cowboys RB Emmitt Smith, and Super Bowl-themed giveaways. The location is First Street between Jefferson and Washington streets.
