Super Bowling on a BudgetBy Clay McNearPublished on January 30, 2008 at 4:01amThe Super Bowl. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Youve got a 33 percent chance of seeing a decent game if you can get in. Then, if you can scrape up the dough, youre eating pocket lint for supper, plus youre seated next to some carpet-bagging corporate weenie who has to ask what inning it is. But thats okay. We live in a basketball town, so its fitting that one of our most beloved sports icons will kick off this wallet-challenging week with Dan Majerles Downtown Super Bowl Block Party. Majerles wacked bash features the party features performances by Digital Underground, Tone Loc, and Young MC, DJ spins, a "mini NFL Experience," the "Largest Dish Ever Washed" contest with former Dallas Cowboys RB Emmitt Smith, and Super Bowl-themed giveaways. The location is First Street between Jefferson and Washington streets.
