God bless video games. Besides sucking away countless hours we might’ve foolishly wasted on more productive exploits, the PlayStations and XBoxes of the world have permitted us and our friends to live out various Walter Mitty-like daydreams of being gun-running mobsters, skilled surgeons of Clooneyesque proportions, or (in the case of Rock Band) performers in thrilling arenas filled with screaming groupies. Our fantasies of rock ’n’ roll stardom are so vivid, in fact, that we’re gonna take a stab at making them a reality when we visit Sandbar Mexican Grill for the venue’s weekly Rock Band Competition. Groups of four can play, and are encouraged to come dressed in their trashiest rock-star outfits, with prizes like gift certificates and cash given out for both the winners and the best-dressed groups. We hope we can find some spandex in our size.
