There are poetry readings of the I was born in a log cabin variety (ick, snore, groan) and then there are poetry readings, those slamming shindigs that showcase raw wordplay with kickback musical backing. If you hit up the Poet Bar Mic Check, youll find the latter and more. The open mic invites any and all artists with skills to speak their minds while the sweet sounds of jazz, soul, deep house, or hip-hop augment their lyrical wordplay. The microphone check one two what is this (thats Tribe Called Quest, yall, which you may very well hear during a Poet Bar event) goes off at The Loft on select Fridays.
