Just because we ain’t got the Great Smoky Mountains and fields of Kentucky bluegrass in this here desert don’t mean we ain’t got folks playing a bunch of acoustic stringed instruments and singing a high-lonesome sound. On the contrary, there’s plenty o’ places in town to play/hear bluegrass music. The Arcadia Bluegrass Jam at Mama Java’s. A Fiddle Jam at the American Legion in Apache Junction. And then there’s the Arizona Bluegrass Association’s (ABA) Bluegrass Pickin' in the Park -- one of our faves. You don’t have to be an ABA member to get your twang on, so grab your banjo, guitar, upright bass, fiddle, or even a kitchen pan and jam.
Sundays, 1 p.m. Starts: Nov. 4. Continues through June 29, 2007
