Energy Thursdays
Back in 2004, DJ guru Rod Carrillo was all over the Valley's airwaves and club scene, broadcasting his style of trance and progressive house on Energy Radio 92.7/101.1 FM and spinning at joints like Sky Lounge. These days, Carrillo is busy with getting tracks on the Billboard dance chart (his "Leave It on the Floor" remix of Donna Summer's "I Am Fire" hit number one back in April), and traveling across the country and around the world in support of The Dance Jaxx, a mix EP created with Peter Presta. Carrillo hasn't forgotten his hometown homies, however, and has a regular Thump Day gig (except when he's out on tour, that is) called Energy Thursdays at the Cell Block Venue, 525 South Gilbert in Mesa. Each week, he's joined in the DJ booth by guests such as Brook B., Nick Synergy, and Spyder on Thursday, June 19. Doors open at 8 p.m. Call 480-834-7680 for cover.
