Go for some flan instead. Sure, it'll cost you an extra three bucks, and maybe on principle it's indulgent to order it when there's a whole all-you-can-eat buffet in such close proximity. But that wasn't enough to stop me, and I don't regret it one bite, er, bit.

Unlike some kinds of flan that are lighter and more like Jell-O, this was denser and creamier and richer. It was just sweet enough but not overly sugary, smothered in caramel sauce that hinted of burntness, in a delicious, mysterious kind of way.

From start to finish, my meal at Sabor Cubano was full of scrumptious flavors. And once I saw the check, I was even happier. After all these years, it's nice to know I can still feast like a queen — for cheap.
