It's going to be something of a busy weekend for DJ Seduce. The Valley's mixmaster maestro of bossa nova basslines and jazzy globe-trotting jams starts things off by heading up Afro:Baile's "Summer Sessions" gig at Club Mardi Gras, 8040 East McDowell Road in Scottsdale, on Friday, August 22. The night promises a jet-setting blend of funky Latin music, reggae rhythms, and other world sounds courtesy of DJ Seduce and such bands as The Neoprimitive, Catfish Groove Farm, and Cultured Sound System. The music starts at 8:30 p.m., with a $5 cover until 11 p.m. ($7 afterwards). The next night, Saturday, August 23, you can find Seduce spinning up a similar-sounding sonic concoction at Maria Maria Restaurant, 2000 East Rio Salado Parkway in Tempe, where, starting at 9 p.m., the cultural cat will send out a stream of salsa, mambo, samba, and African beats from his record decks for the patrons at the Carlos Santana-owned restaurant (located at the Tempe Marketplace).
