Somewhere or other, it’s written that to everything there is a season. But there are people who just can’t accept this -- people who enjoy listening to Bing Crosby sing “Silver Bells” in February, people who crave pumpkin pie in June. If you’re a baseball fan of this ilk, here comes Arizona Fall League to the rescue.

The Major League Baseball-sponsored winter league, which commences play on Tuesday, October 7, features six teams spread out over five Valley venues. The Arizona Desert Dogs play at Phoenix Municipal Stadium. The perplexingly named Surprise Rafters are at Surprise Stadium. The Scottsdale Scorpions call Scottsdale Stadium home. The Mesa Solar Sox haunt Hohokam Stadium. The Peoria Saguaros and the Peoria Javelinas share Peoria Sports Complex.
