Let’s get this straight: Maureen McCormick was never a regular on the daytime soap The Edge of Night. That was Leah Ayres, who played Marcia Brady in The Bradys, the six-episode ’90s drama that was the last in a long string of failed Brady Bunch spin-offs. And Maureen McCormick is not married to Ben Stiller. That’s Christine Taylor, who played Marcia Brady in the 1995 film The Brady Bunch Movie.

No, Maureen McCormick is Maureen McCormick, star of Skatetown USA, former country singer, and author of Here’s the Story: Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice, the latest of the Bunch memoirs. She’s also the only real Marcia Brady. Those others are wanna-bes. Pretenders to the throne. Fake Marcias. She’s also, according to her new book, a survivor. Of drug addiction, alcohol abuse, and a series of peculiar romances with, among others, Steve Martin and (gasp!) Michael Jackson.
