Hard CorpsHerberger artists choose the school of rockBy Nina CarapetyanPublished on December 10, 2008 at 4:03amThink of Phoenix as a spreading pool of concrete founded upon a desert. The cement on which we build our lives has come to seem as natural to us as the environment that its obscured, and this seemingly uni-functional substance is the main concern of the Concretion the sixth element exhibit. Participating artist Steven Biltz, an MFA alumnus of ASUs Herberger College of the Arts, directly interrogates the function of this urban material through his sculptures made of reclaimed concrete. His work will be shown alongside that of other Herberger graduate students, faculty, and alumni.
