If you’re a regular reader of New Times, you know that the Phoenix Coyotes don’t get too much ink (okay, no ink whatsoever). Nothing personal, Coyotes. We actually like ice hockey and stuff. It’s just that y’all are so forgettable, like post-Matrix Keanu Reeves. It also doesn’t help that you haven’t made the playoffs since the 2001-02 season. But today's Coyotes’ game gives us a reason to write about NHL hockey in Phoenix: the other team. Namely, the Detroit Red Wings, the almighty pucksters of the past decade or so, a team akin to the Dallas Cowboys or Los Angeles Lakers in its popularity. Go, Wings! Uh, we mean, Coyotes.
