If youre a regular reader of New Times, you know that the Phoenix Coyotes dont get too much ink (okay, no ink whatsoever). Nothing personal, Coyotes. We actually like ice hockey and stuff. Its just that yall are so forgettable, like post-Matrix Keanu Reeves. It also doesnt help that you havent made the playoffs since the 2001-02 season. But today's Coyotes game gives us a reason to write about NHL hockey in Phoenix: the other team. Namely, the Detroit Red Wings, the almighty pucksters of the past decade or so, a team akin to the Dallas Cowboys or Los Angeles Lakers in its popularity. Go, Wings! Uh, we mean, Coyotes.
