“Deck” co-curators return with collaborative craziness

More About

Brothers are supposed to armwrestle, throw punches, and fight over chicks. Right? Not so for “Molten Brothers” Kenneth Richardson and Mike Goodwin, local artists who met at the 515 Arts gallery and immediately felt a kinship. They co-curated the popular “Deck” skateboard art shows, then started working on collaborative pieces. “We had similar crazy ideas,” says Richardson. “I would have a drawing and give it to him to work on, or vice versa, and we’d pass the piece back and forth until we agreed it was done.”

Meet the pair at the holiday reception for “The Molten Brothers: Elbow Grease." The exhibit, which continues through December 28, features drawings and kinetic sculptures bathed in tongue-in-cheek social commentary, from a working miniature oil well to a portrait of musician Keith Richards that blows real smoke.
