The unofficial first half of the 2008-09 NBA season ended ignominiously for the Phoenix Suns in their 41st game of the season on January 23: a 98-76 mauling at the hands of Boris Diaw and the Charlotte Bobcats. Though Suns castoff Diaw and the Bobcats had something to prove, so did the Suns after equally humiliating previous losses to the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks. All the Suns proved, however, is what seems to be the rule in their first season under head coach Terry Porter: They can’t beat the patsies. They get yet another chance when the lousy Golden State Warriors visit U.S. Airways Center. The nationally televised game starts at 8:30 p.m.
Fri., Feb. 6, 8:30 p.m.; Wed., April 15, 7:30 p.m., 2009
