All you have to do is read what exScientologists say about Scientology. And there are a ton of them. Read all the Scientology books you want. It is a money motivated business.But realize you wont know what it is Scientology actually does to people by reading any of their books. They pay their staff terrribly. They're lucky to get $80.00 a week for working 90+ hours. No medical, no dental, no help from Scientology. Disconnection is real (Tommy Davis is an outright liar).Disconnection is when a Scientologist decides to go public about the bad things they experienced in Scientology. Scientology declares these type of people "Supressive Persons". At this point, any Scientologist connected to these "SPs" are required to disconnect from them or they themselves will be declared. Children have no stake in this whatsoever. Read the stories of family members not talking to people in their families for years and years. Scientology is a cult. Control of their members is paramount!

Scientology is just a supremacist group that hides behind the word "religion" and a glossy marketing strategy. All of the comments, marketing gimmicks, etc, are set up so that you go any buy one of their $25 books. Those books try to claim that Scientologists are "homo novis" and are better beings than everyone else. They even have a 'tone scale,' where people like doctors and non-Scientologists are at the bottom, the place where they "should be disposed of quietly and without sorrow" (Hubbard, Science of Survival, p.100)

The KKK has an unassuming web site too. Those notorious African-American haters have a web title of "spreading a message of LOVE not HATE." Does that mean that we let them off so easily?

The neighbors have every right to be upset about this group setting up shop so close to them.

I disagree with your point regarding "feeling superior," and allowing them to do so. It is that allowance which has created the arrogance of such as Tom Cruise which is now being articulated by his peers.

The persons showing up to defend him are either irrational and use a great deal of profanity, or as with this story they've sent in a Mr. "Robert Hawkins" as a pretense to a voice of "unbiased" moderation. Mr. Hawkins was immediately exposed as someone who had previously taken money from Scientology to author, "From Clear to Eternity," and his defense of Tom Cruise's reprehensible arrogance shifted to "what have these people done to you directly?"

THAT IS ARROGANCE! To believe that unless I have been harmed directly, the harm they do others is not my business and completely unimportant. This false sense of superiority assumed by people so incredibly stupid as to buy this garbage, is fundamentally the basis for ALL of the abuses of Scientology.

Arrogant is not a word most churches see applied to them very often. In Scientology's case, not a day goes by without them communicating their false belief in personal superiority which they use to self-justify acting out in ways that range from COMPLETELY social unacceptable to ILLEGAL.

WRONG. Scientology is not "recognized" as a religion in the United States for the government is not in the business of "recognizing" them. Why lie?

Scientology is ON PAPER, a not for profit, tax exempt, "charitable organization" which cannot demonstrate ANY SINGLE ACT OF CHARITY which did not have an agenda attached to it that led to PROFIT $$$$$$$$!!! MANY, many, BILLIONS of stolen dollars, wasted lives, and people destroyed.

Scientology will spare no expense on private investigators to check out a critic's background and they're not above a little fabrication if it's noy juicy enough. Scientology has paid $60,000 for full page ads in the New York Times denouncing Germany as a Nazi state because Germany treats Scientology like a business. It's doubtful whether Scientology has spent 60 grand on real charitable things like soup kitchens or housing the homeless in it's entire history, it's spent millions of dollars a year on private investigators and lawyers though.

Anyone commenting favorably about this cult cannot ask others to read about Hubbard without themselves reading the real history of Hubbard, an alcoholic, pill-popping, child-abusing charlatan. Members of Scientology are forbidden to read anything critical of Hubbard.

Scientoloy is still responsible for the biggest domestic spying case in American history when, in the 70's, they infiltrated the justice department and the IRS and were busted. Hubbard ran away to see and many Scientologists were charged, including Hubbard's wife at the time.

EVERY time some criticism of this criminally-convicted cult comes into the news, you'll see the same couple of comments from Scientology's secret service (OSA):1) "You don't know anything about Scientology, where did you get this information? The Web?"2) Since you don't know anything about Scientology, you should go out and buy our books, then come in and pay for classes".

This stuff is so repetitious, it's laughable.We DO know what we're talking about. Most of it comes from cases like Armstrong V. Scientology, Wollersheim v. Scientology, etc. It is in the court records, people. Look up the harm this group has done to its own members and tell us again we don't know what we're talking about! Scientology: the only cult with an over-active intelligence agency.

Actually law enforcement around the world have managed to stop the Scientology crime syndicate's various crimes and abuses routinely, including the Scientology crime boss "Reverend" Reed Slatkin. What's lacking in the United States is Congressional funding needed to roll up the Scientology crime syndicate once and for all, a project that Lt. Ray Emmons was tasked with to design the dismantleing plan for Federal officers.

And Russel Shaw who wants to pretend that opposing organized crime is hate, when you fled FBI officers in 1999 for the Federal investigation in to Scientology's so-called "Sporgery" crimes, you knew the Scientology crime syndicate's time was almost up.

I have a similar story. I did some research into Scientology and the human rights abuses documented in court cases shocked me. As a human rights advocate, I went to one of these peaceful protests. It was an afternoon with a bunch of young people with signs and fliers, music, some honestly terrible dancing, and someone brought a cake. I've protested for many different causes before and this was one of the friendliest, most fun gatherings I've seen.

However, when I left the protest, I was followed home by a man taking pictures of me. He stalked me, I assume, to find out where I live. A bit of a terrifying prospect for a woman living alone. He stood right in front of my car so I couldn't leave while he took pictures of my license plate. I even noticed a car with the Scientology symbol (an "S" inside two triangles) on the bumper following me as I drove away. I guess they didn't realize how obvious it was. A few weeks later, I received a threatening letter from a law firm claiming to represent the Church of Scientology calling me the leader of a terrorist organization and how I'd better stop my "illegal" actions or I'd be arrested. It was clearly an intimidation attempt! I was absolutely shocked, in all my time as an activist, I've never never seen something like this happen. I guess anyone who disagrees with Scientologists in any way is considered a "terrorist" to them.

The cult is incredibly dangerous. Very few people know this (though the documentation is all over the web if you bother to look for it), but Scientology operates its own labor camps where people have vanished and died (Rehabilitation Project Force), is responsible for the largest government infiltration in the history of the US (Operation Snow White), have a policy that destroys families by forcing people to cut off contact with anyone in their life who is not a scientologist (the policy is known as Disconnection), utilize authoritative hypnosis at all levels of their "classes" (documented by many sources, including the Australian Government's Anderson Report), and has used incredibly unethical and illegal methods to silence opponents (Operation Freak Out was one example. Fair Game is the policy). This is not, and never has been, an issue of religious intolerance. It is an issue of safety. This cult/organization needs to be destroyed for the good of its followers and everyone else.

Anyone with a few spare minutes on their hands can do some reading from both sides of the fence and see that the people concerned have very good reasons to be. That aside, I believe that its the traffic involved that is of greatest concern, turning a six month rental in the 50's, by a maniac con-artist, into some sort of 'shrine' smacks of continuing 'scamology' in my honest opinion.

Anyone with a few spare minutes on their hands can do some reading from both sides of the fence and see that the people concerned have very good reasons to be. It isn't as though moving into my neighborhood and acting like fools hasn't been enough, the have to continually lie for PR reasons and intrude on my life in order to be effectively countered.

Scientology keep saying people criticize something they know little about, such as Dianetics. You have to see for yourself or pick up the book. This is very untrue. There are plenty of critics written about Dianetics, in which a list can be find in Wikipedia, for example. Dianetics claims to be a science but it's not regarded as such by most independent scientists.

Asking people to try is like drug pushing. You have to try to see what the high is about. Scientology claims to be the expert in well being of the mind. If you believe in god, you have to believe in the devil as well. So there must be virus of the mind, and Scientology may be just that.
