Sound the City is the latest Valley band to carve out a large fan base before picking up high school diplomas, following the lead of successful locals Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Greeley Estates, and The Maine. The pop-rock band, whose members are seniors at Corona del Sol and Desert Vista high schools, started out as a two-piece acoustic act under the name De Amor in 2007. The group tweaked its sound, lineup, and name to become Sound the City. Now, Sound the City, which sounds a lot like All-American Rejects, with a little more youthful energy and innocence, boasts nearly 27,000 friends on their tricked-out MySpace page. The four-piece band has a new EP, titled We'll Save You, scheduled to drop this spring, and will hit the road for a West Coast tour next month after their local dates.
