Fans of Tinseltown tripe may be disappointed by “The Last Mile: An Exhibition of Rare and Private Photographs by Barbara McQueen” exhibit. While it offers a behind-the-scenes look at the personal life of a Hollywood legend, it doesn’t show celebrated leading man Steve McQueen bedding babes or snarling at paparazzi. Instead, the photographs by the late actor’s wife (former supermodel Barbara Minty) depict the private pleasures enjoyed by her famous husband toward the end of his life.

In one photo, he’s gunning one of his many vintage pickup trucks; in another, he’s ogling a rare World War I “hog,” one of the several antique motorcycles McQueen collected. The actor’s movie career isn’t completely ignored in the loving homage: He’s also shown presiding over the sets of his last two pictures, Tom Horn and The Hunter.

All 30 of the exhibit’s images are lifted from the book of the same name, co-authored by Barbara McQueen and Valley resident Marshall Terrill.

Mondays-Saturdays. Starts: March 6. Continues through April 11, 2009
