ASU’s not the most progressive of schools – it’s famed for its frats, jocks, and beach-blonde coeds – but it does boast one of the most kickass art museums in the country. No lie. Most anyone who’s been in this town a while and digs government-subsidized art that doesn’t suck is a fan of ASU Art Museum. Some of the institution’s biggest supporters, the good-egg folks in the art-project collective Martha + Mary, throw more support ASUAM’s way on with the ASU Art Museum Street Party at 4400 North Central Avenue, located just south of Lux Coffeebar and Pane Bianco. Highlights include site-specific installations by artists including Sue Chenoweth, Saskia Jorda, Carrie Marill, and Matt Moore, live music by The Hooves, Subterranean Jazz, and Wizards of Time, spins by DJ Brazilia, barbecue by the Welcome Diner, and a beer garden.
