In The Internet Writing Journal, American author Kris Saknussemm outlines his “Five Tips to Avoiding Total Disaster as a Novelist.” We like numbers 1 and 5: “Burn your notebooks and clear your head” and “Ignore all reasonable sounding advice like ‘write about what you know,’ ‘read as much as you can,’ or ‘try to write every day.’”

Hah, we knew it! Fuck Hemingway!

Changing Hands Bookstore presents the verbosely turgid Saknussemm reading from his latest published work, Private Midnight, described (by himself) as a “psychoerotic noir fairtytale.” According to the critical buzz, it sounds like yet another reason for us to masturbate with one hand and turn pages with the other.
