Voodoo vibes and colorful beaded necklaces are so rock ’n’ roll. Just ask soul-patched, devil-horns-throwing funny man Jim Florentine, who brings his singular breed of Howard Stern-approved comedy to Club Mardi Gras & VooDoo Lounge for two shows this weekend. The co-host of VH1’s That Metal Show and vocal artist behind Crank Yankers’ Special Ed (“I’ve got mail, yaaay!”) is a laid-back Everydude onstage, one whose standup gives the impression of enjoying a beer and a good hang just as much as he digs on tight rhythms and a stellar bass groove. Also very rock ’n’ roll: Florentine’s uncomfortably hilarious Terrorizing Telemarketers CD series, created with partner-in-crime Don Jamieson.
