Killah Instinct

Wu-Tang affiliate swings a mighty sword of lyricism

Earlier this year, some shamsters put out word that prominent Wu-Fam rapper Killah Priest would make a stop in the Valley, going so far as to politick with locals to set up a show. It was news to Priest's crew, so the Wu-Tang posse and the Blunt Club crew swiftly straightened out the facts. We imagine it wasn’t pretty.

However, the real deal arrives on Thursday, April 30, when Priest performs at Chasers Bar & Night Club. In 1995, the Brooklyn-based rapper’s guest spot on the GZA classic Liquid Swords made most ears perk up. Since then, the emcee has been rightly known for bringing high-level wordplay and a battering-ram delivery to any track he has been asked to bless. The approach has served Priest well in his journey, including a stint with the near-mythical The Horseman, the emcee supergroup that included fellow spitters Canibus, Ras Kass, and Kurupt. Priest’s latest mixtape, /Walter Reed/ (KP's given name), sets the stage for his forthcoming album that’s rumored for release later this year.
