Best known by laypersons as “the chick with the mustache” in the feminist punk/electronic group Le Tigre, JD Samson is also an artist, film producer, director, pin-up model, dancer, LGBT activist and icon, and DJ. On the turntable tip, this gender-bending culture aficionado has sharpened her mash-up skills over the last several years, crowding the dance floor with eclectic music selections and clever remixes. Samson’s sets are as thoughtful as they are danceable, often pairing mainstream hip-hop with queer artists and funky electro tunes. Her most recent mixes cover everything from the Pointer Sisters to Gwen Stefani to Justice.

Currently touring Europe with Brooklyn-based band/artist collective MEN, Samson makes a brief stop in AZ to host William Fucking Reed’s long-running indie dance night, Shake!
